Saw this on MSNBC and thought it was an excellent article on what our church is doing to help those in need and what they have been counseling us to do for years.

A Merry Christmas for the Lunts
Here's a quick recap of our Very Merry Christmas...

2. Christmas Goodies...
3. Christmas Eve Traditions...

5. Wrapping Up (although Roman didn't LOVE this 'lil tradition).

This year Darin and I had a difficult time "getting into the Spirit of Christmas"! With so much on our minds it took great effort just to do the smallest things. I'm one to decorate every inch of my house but this year if it weren't for the kids I might not have even done a tree! So sad. But I got to thinking about how much this time of year means on so many levels and I tried to make amends...I actually decorated the mantel and a few other areas in addition to the tree. Seeing how excited the kids were about this helped to get us more into the mood and we've really tried since then to put 100% into the festivities. It was a wonderful Christmas and I hope that in the midst of the gifts and goodies that my kids heard the words we read from the Bible about the miraculous birth of our Savior. Truly He Is the Reason for the Season and our Peace during times of uncertainty.
I hope you all had a super-Merry Christmas and please forgive me if you did NOT receive a Christmas card...I probably got about half of them out sans an update since we don't have one. :)
I've got some great recital pics and video to update this week too, so hopefully more fun stuff coming up.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

B-day Part II
On Saturday (my actual b-day) we went down to Marietta to visit some dear friends, the Rehl family. Many other families from our ward made the trek down too. I'm always amazed by the wonderful women, mothers, I'm surrounded by. We had a lovely visit and as we were leaving realized that NOT ONCE did we have a crying child (aside from wee babes) or tattling...all day! It was nice to enjoy adult conversation (why does that sound iffy?)...I mean it was nice to talk to other adults and to eat great food.
Thank you so much Austin and Wendy for having us over!

Sarah's B-day Part I
A week-and-a-half ago I was running on the treadmill and I thought about how my much anticipated (lol) 33rd birthday was coming up and I had no plans....then I guess the running endorphins hit and I dreamt up My Ideal Birthday Party; hence the birth of
Sarah's Birthday Mom Prom
So after my run, I hurried upstairs to the computer and did a quick search for Ballroom Dance Studios...whadya know, Fred Astair has franchised his talents into a wonderful dance center AND they have locations in Columbus (only $5/person that night!). Bingo. Next, call fancy schmancy restaurants for a banquet room. After a little hiccup I found LaScala. Done. Party Planned! I sent a quick Evite to everyone whose email address I could find and nervously awaited the replies....you see, after the endorphins settled down I realized just how crazy this idea was. My OWN husband didn't want to go so I figured most others wouldn't want to either....but what great friends I have! So many people were excited to come and even if they were out-of-town for Christmas they were kind enough to say that the idea was a hit. Again, many thanks to my awesome friends! So in throwing this Prom together here are some things I learned for next year (yes, Darin I AM having another b.day next year and unless I happen to be in Hawaii, we'll be dancing!).
1. Give yourself a little more than a week to plan...say a month just so you can take a look at the restaurants/dance centers first. You might also want to let your friends know so they can get dresses.
2. Get a list of potential babysitters for your friends. Our ward ran out of sitters very quickly.
3. Make sure the dance center won't REQUIRE you to dance with different partners!!! LOL Nothing is more awkward than seeing your spouse frantically look around when he realizes that he has to ask someone else to dance. (So fun to picture Darin at a H.S. Dance!!!) Honestly that part was awkward for EVERYONE but luckily was only during the instructional part. K, funny story here. Ask James and Lisa about when Lisa was asked to dance by a handsome stranger. LOL such a great story!
4. Have Fun! Don't worry about if other people will have fun...where there is the opportunity to laugh, everyone has fun!
5. Get someone to take pics! Sanae was so great to think of this. She called Emily H. to come and take pictures for us during dinner...so Prom-ish! Emily said she'd get those pics to me this week so I'll post them too. Thanks Emily!
K, so now that I have imparted the wisdom of my 33 years, go out and plan a Mom Prom for your b.day and I promise you'll have fun!
We started out a tad scared.....but pretty soon we were all Fred and Ginger!
