Wow - I don't know what happened to my Christmas post but I know I thought about it, maybe even had some ideas of what I wanted to post but it looks like that never happened. It was a wonderful Christmas - I would even call it dreamy because it snowed lots and lots the day after and my kids had the best time playing in the snow for hours...

Is that the cutest snowman or what?! The kids totally 100% built it themselves!

We rode the Polar Express! (4th year)

We got the "Coolest Parents Ever" award for this gift. Haha Maybe not but it is a pretty good nanny!
Over Christmas break I tackled two things that I consider ultra-hard, maybe even award-worthy accomplishments in my book because they both freak me out!
1. Potty-training Scarlett. I was leery and worried and an emotional wreck (because that's how I deal with potty-training) but she actually caught on quickly and has since had very few if any accidents! Where is my Oscar/Tony/Emmy for that?! My speech would have been, "I'd like to thank my husband for believing in me and never letting me give up even when I wanted to! I'd like to thank Clorox wipes and the Minnie Mouse potty chair which was never used but provided joy each time the handle was pushed. Last, I couldn't have done this without Scarlett - the success is truly yours."

Cutest little bum! She asked Santa for big girl panties for Christmas so I felt obligated to help her out.
2. Teaching Roman to read. I've often contemplated home schooling not because I don't appreciate the public education system (love teachers!) but because I want an adventure. My dream would be to buy a big RV and travel the country with my brood - visiting every state and landscape we could see, learning about our nation's history as we visit the actual locations where things happened, seeing all the beauty the Lord has created. No schedule but our own, meeting people from all walks of life, creating valuable memories everyday is my dream! I sound crazy don't I?! (Darin has no interest in this dream and his job doesn't really accommodate life on the road. Bummer.) One of my biggest drawbacks has been that I don't think I'm a very good teacher AND I thought it was impossible for me to teach my child to read. I couldn't comprehend how to do that. I've taught my kids their letters, sounds, shapes, numbers, etc...but how would I put that together and help them break the code of reading??!! I even bought a book about how to teach your kid to read in 100 easy lessons (that was overwhelming). Then I heard about the Bob Books. Ordered them, opened them, enticed Roman to sit by me and take a look...voila he was reading immediately! I was so proud of him and I felt like a rockstar. I'm sure I'll get humbled pretty soon BUT - this was something I really thought I couldn't do and now I feel more confidant that someday I could take my kids out of school for a year and make my dream happen. (I hope Darin doesn't read this...I need to ease him in to my version of heaven and how it would be possible while he keeps his practice.) I'll figure it out. But for now, airkick and high five..I taught my kid something that has changed.his.life! (now that I think of it mom's teach life altering lessons everyday but you get what I mean, right?!)

Because a blog post with this much bragging is sickening, I will post a picture of what happened or did not happen to my kitchen while I was being a rockstar mom. ;-)
PS - If you're on Instagram I'd love to follow you. My name is luntfam.
PPS - There are sooooo many things that I'm lacking as a mom, I go to bed every night haunted by them so please don't be annoyed by my post of awesome-ness. (I'll balance it later with a reality-check. haha)
PPPS - (I don't know what that means) I feel like blogs are so old-school these days but I still love them!
