Allie's Project Runway Birthday!

Allie turned 11 on March 29th!  She chose Project Runway for her party theme.  She wants to be a fashion designer someday so this was the perfect party for her.  I had a blast coming up with party activities for her gang.  We decided to let each girl design their own look using jersey fabric that was sewn into a tube shape - they could cut sleeves into it or cut it in half - I sat at the sewing machine adding whatever they needed to make their design.  In the end most girls wanted a simple pillow-case design dress/top.  We also had lots of fabric paint and stencils which added some fun elements.  Allie and her friends absolutely loved it.  We ended the night with a walk down the runway!  Each girl took a Project Runway shirt home as a gift.

Allie is a very happy and creative girl!  She loves to design and create every day of the week.  She is a big help to me with the other kids and has started babysitting for me when I need to run a short errand or for Darin and I to go on a date - that has been such a blessing!  We are so grateful to have her in our family!

Kate's Birthday!

Kate turned 9 on March 27th. This was her "friend party" year and I wanted to do something big in spite of being 8+ months pregnant. This is the first time that she and Allie had their own separate parties. She choose a "Movie Theme". It was a lot of fun to come up with decorations and games. It was especially nice that I could use the same decorations for her party and Allie's. I had two of our favorite babysitters come over to help me do the girls' nails and hair. Then the girls made a movie (see it at the end of the post!) - I gave them some ideas and they choose to make a music video. They are such cute girls and it turned out darling. Then they watched "Wreck It Ralph", had popcorn, pizza, cake, and candy. My favorite part of the night was the look on Kate's face when it was all over and she said, "That was so fun I don't want to go to bed because then it will all be over." It was worth every bit of work for her to have her special day!

Kate is the most responsible 9 year old ever! She is kind and helpful. The other day she asked Roman if he knew who her best friend was. He rattled off several names and she kept saying, "Nope." Roman was giving up and Kate said, "You'll never guess it Roman. My very best friend is Jesus." My heart burst right then...that is a mama payday! I love Kate and am humbled that God chose me to be her mother.
